The Training Foundation’s mission is ‘enabling Quality-Assured Learning & Development’, achieved through TAP, the Training Accreditation Programme. First introduced in 1998, TAP is the UK’s leading generic skills programme for L&D practitioners at all levels and stages of their career. Over 30,000 TAP Certificates and Diplomas have been issued across all strands of the public and private sectors, including around half the Top 100 FTSE companies.
NSAN member organisations who are current TAP clients include:
Sellafield Atkins AWE Babcock BAE Systems Balfour Beatty MoD Rolls Royce Scottish Environment Protection Agency
All TAP short-course programmes are skills-based, assessable and modular, enabling L&D professionals the flexibility to attend courses on a just-in-time basis, as role-specific new skills are needed. This unique approach was recognised by a Queen's Award for Innovation. TAP Qualifications are awarded by the British Institute for Learning & Development and qualify holders for Institute membership.
NSAN has welcomed TAP’s inclusion as an Employer Nominated Provider, as it believes that the quality of employee training is crucial to the sector meeting the skills challenges that employers are facing.
Dug Harrison, Regional Manager, NSAN commented “One of the main roles of NSAN is to promote providers who offer high levels of quality training appropriate to the nuclear industry. This enables organisations to choose providers and provision with confidence. Having looked through the TAP courses and how they align with membership of the BILD, we feel that this is indeed an ideal route for hands-on trainers within the nuclear industry to achieve a recognised qualification for the hard work they carry out in companies within the nuclear sector. It also gives a clear career pathway for those that wish to further their career within the L&D landscape. I am delighted to recommend TAP programmes for subject matter or technical experts involved in training delivery from time to time, and experienced or aspiring full-time L&D practitioners”.
Nick Mitchell, CEO of The Training Foundation, commented: “Our aspiration is that TAP becomes the sector’s de facto training standard for both the L&D professional community and also the many subject experts involved in training their colleagues. We will be working closely with NSAN as an Employer Nominated Provider to achieve this ambition. We are grateful to Sellafield, which mandates TAP for its training delivery team, for sponsoring our application.”
