Supporting Learners in Learning Centres
Introduction
The provision of effective support to learners in a Learning Centre environment is a critical factor in achieving learner satisfaction. The Learning Support Specialist needs to manage a number of varied learner interventions that may include face-to-face, telephone and/or email support.
It is of crucial importance for each of these interventions to be as effective as possible so as to maintain learner satisfaction and motivation.
Benefits
The skills learned will enable the Learning Support Specialist to better understand how to communicate effectively with their learners, enhancing the overall learning experience and maintaining learner motivation.
Employing communication and motivation skills, and dealing with challenging learners clearly benefits all learners within the learning centre environment, while effective coaching can accelerate a learner meeting their objective, enabling increased learner satisfaction and time and cost savings. By role-playing in a simulated learning centre environment, these new skills can be practiced safely, increasing the Learning Support Specialist’s effectiveness on return to the working environment.
