Subject experts in training or support roles

Many employers are employing subject matter experts (SME's) in training roles and assuming that, as ‘they know the subject, they can train others’!  This is a mistake! Research shows that training skills account for around 60% of the learning from any training event and subject matter knowledge for 40%. This is often overlooked.  As a result, training can be ineffectual.

The TAP Skills Programme provides foundation skills courses for SME’s (2 days) in the basic skills to design and deliver effective training and coaching. This ensures that all the organisation’s training activities are designed and delivered to a consistently high standard.

The certificated courses listed on the right are particularly suited to subject matter experts, either in full-time or part-time training or performance support roles.
