Supporting formal
employee training

The TAP framework includes a range of intensive short courses
(2 days plus online learning) specifically designed for subject matter experts with a training aspect to their job.

Some of these courses are listed in the R/H column.

SMEs working in specific technical areas

For subject experts with training responsibilities in the specific areas shown below, the TAP courses are contextualised:

Training in Health & Safety

Training in the
Healthcare sector

Training in the MoD

Subject experts and others supporting learning

Occasional trainers, part-time trainers or subject matter experts involved with training

The complexity and technical nature of many products and services today means that subject experts, outside the central training team, are often used to develop and deliver technical training - either through formal training sessions or by informal, work-based coaching and support. Examples include health & safety, induction and product training etc.

Most employers have such needs, yet many believe that all that's needed to train others is subject matter expertise. This is a mistake - key training skills make all the difference.

The essential knowledge and skills...

All subject experts with a training or coaching aspect to their role have three needs whatever their subject matter:

An understanding of
how people learn

The ability to
engage with
the learners,
building a climate in which learning can take place

The
skills to coach learners
rather than simply instruct

The TAP short-courses for SMEs are designed to meet these needs (click on the relevant courses in the R/H panel for course outlines etc). For further information, please call the TAP Support Team:
