West Oxfordshire District Council’s IT Training team have been using TAP methods for 2 years since Katharine Mann and Jackie Scott successfully completed the Certificate in Training Delivery skills. The team aim to improve the effective and appropriate use of the corporate IT systems and desktop software to increase staff efficiency and service delivery to the public. By developing and delivering interactive courses in Corporate IT Skills, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, 97% of office based staff have now demonstrated competence in these four areas. This IT Training programme has contributed to the e Government priority outcome: ‘establishment of an e-skills training programme for Council Members and staff with a recognised basic level of attainment’. Feedback from staff who have attended these courses has been consistently positive as they have enjoyed the interactive approach. In response to training needs, further interactive IT training courses have been developed for business applications, the telephone system and IT Induction.
